Integration as seen by a Blind:
Interview by : Iqbal Ali Bou Khamsin.
It is very exciting and proud to that who faced frustration and despair and who challenges and is willing to achieve success and prosperity, he who is always hopeful. Some people may find it abnormal to give an example of a blind girl who in spite of her disability, proved that she is equal to her peers who are endowed with eye sight in dealing not only with the computer but in the other technical fields.
Dear readers, in this introduction the magazine of (Al Ata' Al -Tarbawi) is pleased to meet Hanadi Jasim Al Omani who obtained a Bachelor Degree in Law and Chairwoman of Al Noor Printing Press in the Private Education Schools Administration.
The following dialogue took place ;
Did you have any problems during your University study and how did you deal with the others ?
I did not face difficult problems. In general I had some difficulties when I joined the University but I could overcome them. These problems included the unavailability of books but the University Administration was co-operative with me and provided me with the books reader and allowed me to use a tape recorder machine in the lectures and a secretary to write for me in the exams even in my movements. As to the tapes recording my family including my parents were very helpful to me.
Did you wish to work as per the specification (Law) ?
After my graduation I was trained by two of the lawyers but I did not feel that I am achieving what I am looking forward to. I also felt that the profession is more suitable for males not for females. I worked then as a legal researcher in the legal affairs. But when I joined the computer, I praised Allah for that because I enjoy it very much and this has opened many doors of science for me to serve my blind peers in this field.
Do you have any artistic or physical participated or any voluntary attribution ?
Yes, I am a member in the Kuwaiti Blind Associations, and a member in the Blind Association related computer committee. I am also a member in the Kuwaiti Disabled Club and a player of the (shot put) team where I got the Golden Medal in Bermingham, London Championship. Later on I will participate in another sports championship. I also learned swimming in the Blind Association and came in the first place in the Tennis Championships of the blind competitors. I participated in the Marathon competition organized by National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) and came in the second place in the walking competition and I participated in many Marathon competitions in Ahmadi Sport Day.
